| Simone attended RYLA in 1996,
after which she joined the Youth Leadership Awardees Association for
two years, which was similar to Rotaract but without the international
side. Simone served on the YLAA Committee as Secretary, while also
serving 2 terms concurrently as President and Treasurer of two student
clubs, Unigames and
the University Computer Club, at
the University of Western Australia.
After the activities of the YLAA wound down, Simone finally joined the Rotaract Club of Subiaco in District 9450 in mid 1998, two and a half years after first being invited to check out Rotaract by Rotaractors on her RYLA. She transferred to the South Perth club at the beginning of 2000. Simone is very proud that during her 2nd term as President, the Club achieved the Rotary International Presidential Citation. She has maintained 100% attendance throughout her entire membership, even while spending 6 months living in Argentina, where she attended the Rotaract Club of Paraná. Simone has a 1 ruby Paul Harris Fellow, and is a Rotary Centurion. Internationally, Simone is extremely active. She has founded a variety of Rotaract eGroups, in particular the global egroup RotaractNET, the primary communication network for all Rotaractors worldwide. She has provided training on a wide variety of Rotaract topics all over the world, at conferences and district assemblies, including Interota (held every three years), and twice each at the Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference and the Rotaract Preconvention, in Melbourne, Sydney, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, the USA, the Philippines and Malaysia. Simone is the first Rotaractor to be ever appointed to the Board of a Rotary Fellowship, ROTI, and was one of 5 Rotaractors worldwide serving on the Rotary International Rotaract Committee in 2006/07. Professionally, Simone is a web information architect, thought she also works as a natural therapist (in Sound Therapy and reflexology). Simone is married to Marcos, and has two daughters. |
