Social Events

Our Club Service Committee regularly organises a variety of social events, a mix of dinners and parties, and more active sporting and leisure events. We typically hold at least one social event for our members each month, and friends, family, and past members are usually more than welcome to join in!

Sport & Leisure Activities

Amber canoeing on Ascot Waters Canoeing: when the Rotaract Club of Ascot was around we used to take part in their annual Canoe Regatta at Garvey Park in Ascot. Hopefully we can resurrect the event some day, when there are some more Rotaract clubs in Perth again! Celine and Roger canoeing
South Perth Rotaractor Simone Collins and Thornlie Rotaractor Sandy Borralho ice skating Ice Skating: we go to Skaters on Ice in Mirrabooka every once in a while. Our member's skating abilities vary from raw beginners who have never even roller skated, to those who are reasonably proficient, but everyone gives it a go! The more experienced skaters are always happy to accompany the first timers onto the ice and around the rink slowly. South Perth and Thornlie Rotaractors at Skaters on Ice
Tania Indoor Rock Climbing Indoor Rock Climbing: a good teamwork exercise as well as, well.. exercise! ... spending an afternoon indoor rock climbing is not something we are likely to do regularly, so doing it as a group is a heap of fun, as well as a thrill when you actually make it to the top for the first time! It's also a great way to challenge a fear of heights. Maya Indoor Rock Climbing
Simone playing minigolf Mini Golf: a round of mini golf is usually a popular event. We generally go to the Botanical Golf in Wanneroo, whose picturesque gardens make for a very relaxing, peaceful day! Damian and Amber playing minigolf
Some of the guys playing pool Playing Pool: sometimes we go out to a pool hall such as Pot Black in Northbridge or Cannington, or if we are lucky enough to have a dinner or meeting at someone's house who has a pool table, it's bound to get used! Julia
South Perth members at AMF Cannington Ten Pin Bowling: around once a year we book some lanes at a bowling alley and have a couple of games. Some of our members are great bowlers, others are not, but we all have a great time nonetheless! You'll usually find us at AMF Cannington or Fairlanes in East Perth. At Rosemount Bowl, our lanes had the message 'Welcome Rotaract - Have a Great Day'!!

Dinners, Parties and More...

Rotaractors with a birthday cake Birthdays: celebrating a birthday is compulsory in our club, and if a member doesn't have anything planned for their birthday, we plan it for them! They get first choice in an activity, but if they don't care what they do, someone else will choose for them. ;) We also try to organise a cake for the meeting closest to their birthday as well. Kym's Birthday
The Club Birthday Dinner Dinners: we organise a variety of dinners and barbeques throughout the year. Sometimes we do the cooking ourselves, other times we go out to a restaurant or cafe. Regular (annual) dinners include club birthday dinners, international dinners, Christmas in July, and the Changeover Night. An international dinner
Going out for a coffee Fellowship after Meetings: we often go out to a nearby cafe after the club meeting for a coffee or a bite to eat. It provides a fantastic opportunity to get to know club members and catch up on some gossip! We usually go to the Dome Café, Gelare, or the Windsor Hotel. Eating after a club meeting
Karaoke! Karaoke: on a couple of occasions, we have braved giving karaoke a go! Having a private room to ourselves with everyone singing together, was actually a lot of fun! More karaoke!
Cooking a barbeque Picnics & Barbeques: whether to celebrate a member's birthday or Christmas, to entertain visiting Rotaractors with some "traditional" Australian food (yes, we have barbequed kangaroo!), or just simply to enjoy the wonderful weather and nature in Perth, it's a very relaxing way to spend some time together. Enjoying a picnic
Amber, Mattia and Celine at the Llama Bar Sunday Sessions: going to the pub together for a few quiet drinks on a Sunday afternoon is not something we do regularly, but if we hear that a Rotaractor from interstate or overseas is in town, chances are we will organise a Sunday sesh to meet them! Andrew at the Duckstein Brewery
Simone and Julia at a Woodstock theme party organised by the Rotaract Club of Ascot in September 2001 Theme Parties: admittedly this isn't something we tend to organise ourselves, but if another club organises a party with a theme, we do our best to support them and dress accordingly! Steve and Simone at a Halloween party organised by the Rotaract Club of South Perth
Wine tasting at Sitella Winery in the Swan Vallery Wine Appreciation: we are extremely fortunate to have some of the best vineyards in the world right here in Western Australia. We sometimes go wine tasting in the Swan Valley, and visit the occasional brewery. We have also held a Champagne appreciation night where we learnt all about how Champagne is made and how the varieties differ. Wine and cheese afternoon
