Rotaract Committees
Rotaract clubs undertake projects & activities in four major areas, called "avenues of service", plus a finance committee operates to find ways to fund all the activities of the club. Two of these avenues deal specifically in benefitting communities, and the other two give something back to the volunteers. This promotes a well-rounded approach and ensures a good variety of activities.
What we do in each of these areas is largely driven by our members' interests. We always welcome new ideas, because the variety of Rotaract events is what makes it so fun! Technically a committee looks after each area, but if you have a particular interest in a project we aren't going to stop you from taking part in the planning if you aren't 'officially' part of that committee.
For now, we have combined the Club Service and Professional Development Committees into a "Club Development" Committee, and the Community Service and International Service Committees into a "Service Projects" Committee.
Club Service Committee
Club Service is about having fun and getting to know other Rotaractors better, to make your time as a volunteer in Rotaract as enjoyable as possible. This committee is responsible for matters regarding attendance, recruitment and retention, fellowship (ie the social side!), public relations, marketing and so on... basically ensuring that our existing club members are happy and informed about what is happening, and that non members find out about us and want to join the club too!
International Service Committee
We seek to understand more about the world we live in, and to help make a difference to the lives of those less fortunate than ourselves. The International Service committee has the primary responsibility for enhancing our members' knowledge and understanding of worldwide needs, problems, and opportunities, and for developing projects to promote international understanding and goodwill toward all people. This includes promoting world peace, learning about new cultures, making new friends overseas, and taking part in humanitarian aid projects.
Community Service Committee
The Community Service committee seeks to enhance our knowledge and understanding of needs, problems and opportunities in our local community, and for devising and implementing appropriate activities for addressing some of those issues.
Professional Development Committee
Rotaract members are students and young professionals, and we like to maintain that professionalism through networking and constantly upgrading our skills. The Professional Development committee finds opportunities for club members to develop their leadership skills and their careers. Part of this includes stimulating awareness and acceptance of high ethical standards in business and professional life, such as those promoted by the Rotary Four-Way Test.
Finance Committee
The Finance committee, headed by the club Treasurer, works with all the other committees to devise ways and means of financing all club activities requiring funds.
